Tibidabo

TibidaboThe Tibidabo is a mountain of 512 m –the highest in Serra de Collserola- that overlooks Barcelona and offers spectacular views over the city and the ocean. It also houses a theme park that has been founded in 1899 being the first of its type in Spain and this makes it also one of the oldest amusement parks in Europe.
It offers a very familiar atmosphere and is perfect for parents with children. If you are interested in looking for adrenalin kicks it is not the right place to go though.
There is also a church on the Tibidabo - Templo Expiatorio del Sagrado Corazón- that is a fantastic building to visit for its architecture and design are astonishing and it took almost 60 years to finish it, from 1902 until 1961. It was started by the modernist architect Enric Sagnier i Villavecchia and was later finished by his son Josep Maria Sagnier i Vidal. The building impresses through the amount of detail that has been created by the constructors and it definitely takes some time to visit and discover the church.

The Tibidabo can be reached either by car or by public transport (Bus and train).
