San Sebastian is together with Barceloneta one of the oldest and most traditional beaches in Barcelona as well as being one of the longest with 1085m lengths and an average of 75m width of golden coastline. It is located at the eastern border of the old city of Barcelona and is easily accessible by foot, metro or other means of public transport such as buses.
San Sebastian has always been frequented by locals and tourists alike and recently it has become especially popular among the gay population of Barcelona and statistics show that more men sunbath there than women.
The infrastructure of the beach is good. It offers public toilets and showers and it is especially friendly for disabled people as it offers adapted toilet and shower facilities as well as further assistance if needed. So for example there is a special bathing service available every day during the summer months that offers supervised and assisted swimming for handicapped people.
But also for families San Sebastian is a nice choice as there is also a children’s playground available.
The water quality is classified as very good and the beach is clean and generally there are no jellyfish that might disturb your dip into the water.
Also, there are lifeguards available during the day, that take care of your security and there is everything you need for a relaxed day at the beach.
