After arriving in the city center of Barcelona the first place you will see is Plaza Catalunya. It is in the heart of the city and has been defined as the city center of Barcelona. The plaza connects the old Barcelona with the new modern one. It gives you access to many parts of the city, from hotels, hostels, holiday apartments, different restaurants and bars, and also shopping.
On one side of the plaza you have Portal de L´Angel which takes you to the barri Gotic, the more old part of the city with small streets and beautiful old buildings. On the other side you have the prestigious street of Passeig de Gracia with all the high-fashion stores for shopping such as Gucci, Chanel and Louis Vuitton. The street also leads you to the city´s two famous tourist attractions, La Pedrera and Casa Batlló, buildings made by Antoni Gaudi.
In the middle of the plaza there is a big square where is a meeting point for many where there is beautiful statues and two big fountains which are lighten up at night creating a stunning view of the center.
