Arc de Triomf
Wednesday, 04 August 2010 06:00
The "Arc de Triomf" of Barcelona was designed by Josep Vilaseca, a Catalan designer. It was built for the Universal Exposition in 1888, and served as the main entrance for the exposition. The Universal Exposition took place in Parc de la Ciutadella which is located very close to the arch.
The arch itself has a unique design with a mudéjar style and is built with colorful
brickwork all over it. It is decorated with stone carvings and includes a carving of
Coat of Arms, where all Spanish provinces are presented below a crown. Another
feature of this beautiful arch is the statues of twelve women which symbolize fame.
