El bosc de les fades

Friday, 03 September 2010 08:32

El Bosc de les Fades (The Forest of the Fairies) is a terrific job of creating an enchanted glade where patrons can sip coffee or cocktails amid trickling waterfalls and the twisted branches of gigantic tropical trees. The main room offers plenty of seating under this simulated foliage, but patrons who want the full-immersion effect must cross over the bridge and into the private grotto where they can get lost in the very depths of the mysterious forest.

Barceloneta is a neighborhood in the Ciutat Vella district of Barcelona. The neighborhood was constructed during the 18th century for the residents of the Ribera neighborhood who had been displaced by the construction of the Ciudadela of Barcelona. The neighborhood is roughly triangular, bordered by the Mediterranean Sea, the Muelle de España of Port Vell and the El Born neighborhood. The neighborhood is serviced by its own stop on the Barcelona metro. Torre Sant Sebastià is the terminus of the Port Vell Aerial Tramway opened in 1931 and connecting Barceloneta with Montjuïc across Port Vell.

San Sebastian

Thursday, 02 September 2010 10:49

san sebastianSan Sebastian is together with Barceloneta one of the oldest and most traditional beaches in Barcelona as well as being one of the longest with 1085m lengths and an average of 75m width of golden coastline. It is located at the eastern border of the old city of Barcelona and is easily accessible by foot, metro or other means of public transport such as buses.
San Sebastian has always been frequented by locals and tourists alike and recently it has become especially popular among the gay population of Barcelona and statistics show that more men sunbath there than women.
The infrastructure of the beach is good. It offers public toilets and showers and it is especially friendly for disabled people as it offers adapted toilet and shower facilities as well as further assistance if needed. So for example there is a special bathing service available every day during the summer months that offers supervised and assisted swimming for handicapped people.

Abissinia

AbissiniaThis restaurant is a very unique and incredible place to visit and eat in. It is the first Ethiopian restaurant in Spain and it does really well in communicating and introducing the culture and cuisine from this rarely known African country. It is located in the Gracia district of Barcelona that is known for its multicultural atmosphere anyway and therefore the Abissinia fits right in there.
The décor and the entire interior of the Abissinia restaurant stay true to its origin with colourful and original tables and small chairs to sit on. If you are going to eat there it is guaranteed that you are having a unique and unforgettable experience that might want to repeat soon.
The food is very traditional and different from what we know in Europe and offers a lot of variety to choose from especially for vegetarians. The price quality relation is excellent as you can get a really good meal including a dessert for a price of 13€-16€ per person.
